Over the past year, Mami has been making all her friends on Facebook laugh at our conversations. I'm not sure what's so funny. Maybe once you read them, you can tell me...
Mother's Day (2012):
Me: Oh, wow 2 gifts.
Emi: Daddy bought you 2 gifts.
D: No, you bought one, Emi.
Emi: No I didn't.
D: Yes, I took the money out of your piggy bank.
Emi: DADDY!! Why did you do that?!
Surprise:
Me: Emi, we are going somewhere and it's a surprise.
Emi: Yea! Are we going to the park?
Me: No, but it does start with a "p".
Emi: (jumping up and down happily) Is it PANAMA?!
Me: Umm no, we're going to the pool.
Name Change?
Yesterday:
Emi: Mama, when you don't really need me call me "Emi". But if you do need me call me "Em".
Me: Ok, Emi.
Emi: No! Call me Em.
Today:
Me: (Calling Emi from her room) Em, come here. Em?
Emi: (Excitement in her voice) Yes, I'm coming. Do you need something, V?
Me: Um, yea, I'm still Mami, not V.
I care about you but...
This morning when I woke up, I felt sick. I ran to the bathroom and threw up. When I came back to the bed, Emi had woken up and come to our bed to lay down. I laid beside her moaning in pain, "ugggh..uggh..uggh." She opens her eyes, scoots over, gently rubs my arm and then my forehead and says, "Aww mami, it's going to be ok, I'm right here and I'm not going anywhere...but you need to stop making those sounds."
At the doctor's checking up on my sibling:
Emi: What is this? (Pointing at a 3D vagina model on the counter)
Me: (speechless)
Dionisio: Um, yea...you don't want to know, Emi.
I'm in charge:
(Dionisio left me here with Nurse Emi while he went on a Zofran and Gatorade run)
Emi: Mami, calm down. Look at me...take a deep breath. Breathe like me. (She demonstrates). You need to calm down. I told you to call for me when you feel like this.
Me: Ok Emi, but I AM calm. And you need to back up...you are too close to my face.
Emi: I know but I'm in charge of you right now...Daddy told me.
The baby is coming!!!
Emi: OH MY GOSH Mami! The baby is coming out!!
Me: What? Where? What are you talking about?
Emi: (Pointing at my protruding belly button) Right there, look, it's poking through.
Me: No, Emi. That is just my belly button pushing out. The baby can't come through there.
Emi: (Confused) No? So how ithe baby coming out? Where?
Me: ....(silence) ... ummmm
