Somebody always has advice on what you should do or eat during pregnancy. Panamanians are no exceptions. Dionisio and I have just nodded while our Panamanian friends and family felt as though we asked for any advice or opinion. With that said, my mother-in-law is also no exception. LOL She has told me not to stretch my arms up because that will cause the umbilical cord to wrap around my baby's neck. She has also told me that I shouldn't scratch my tummy because it causes stretch marks. All along I just giggle and say "ok". But of all the crazy old wives' tales and Panamanian traditions, she has urged me to eat okra almost daily. According to her, eating okra will give me a nice and fast delivery and the baby will just "slip" out. In my opinion, that is an oxymoron: fast delivery??? Ok. But it won't hurt to try it. If it works, then great, if not, then I just ate a whole bunch of nasty okra. If you haven't realized it yet, I HATE okra. It is gross and slimy and it takes me forever to get it down. I even have to pour a cap full of vinegar and add salt and pepper just to even put it in my mouth. Her and Dionisio, just and sit and laugh at me. hahaha Lately she has been gracious enough to mix it in with my favorite, spinach, so that way I won't hate it as much. But I really do appreciate all she does for me and am very gracious that she is looking out for my well being and my baby's well being.

I sure wish I ate Okra for Julian's birth! It would have saved me the 24+ hour labor! Just think-if it works, you would just started a new trend!
