Where Memories Begin...

I've got to say that my parents have definitely done their best at spoiling me (and disciplining me). But they went over the top when they surprised me and my cousins in July with a trip to Disney World. My reaction was simple. "I'm going to be a princess!

We promptly left the next morning, caravaning down to Florida with Tio and Titi. I heard Grandmommie and Granddaddy would be joining us in Orlando with Malaysha. Julian decided to ride in our car. I took it that he was singing too much, too loud and too often when Mama decided to play Spanish music. She was sure he didn't know every single word to the salsa and merengue songs. When we arrived at our "home" for the week, I was surprised to see that all the bedrooms were Disney themed. WOW! Although the Princess Room was adequate enough for me, with princess dresses in the closets and all, I figured I would have much more fun rooming with my cousins Julian and Malaysha in the Pirates of the Caribbean room. And even more exciting was that we had a pool. The month prior I took private swim lessons and I was eager to test out my new skills (& to show off). Our seven magical days included Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. I took pictures with princesses, rode amazing rides, saw different musical shows and enjoyed fireworks and parades.

My favorite memory would have to be when we rushed over to see my favorite princess, Ariel, and they had closed the line. Papa pleaded with Disney employee to let us through, explaining we would be leaving the park and not coming back until much later. The Disney employee said "no" but with a smile. I never knew Papa was so insistent (I guess I never heard the story of how he ran after my mother for a date). He stood beside the employee trying to convince him every 3 minutes but to no avail. Mama was so embarrassed that she took me next door to meet the Fairies. As we creeped up in the line, Papa came rushing in, waved us over and told us that he was successful in convincing the employee. Papa, a Disney Bully? I never saw it coming. All for me.
